Oh, and remember when it
came out that he was dating Taylor Swift in September 2023 and when she started
showing up at his games? That whole thing, plus the Chiefs winning the Super
Bowl, was a HUGE deal last year.
Salary and Career Earnings
Over his first decade in the
NFL, Travis made close to $80 million just from his salary. Back in 2013, he
signed a four-year deal with the Chiefs for $3.12 million. Then, in 2016, he
extended his contract for five years, earning $46 million. That deal had $22
million guaranteed, which averages out to about $14 million a year. In April
2024, he signed another extension for two years, worth $34.25 million. That's
$17.125 million per year, and it'll push his total career earnings over $100
million. Besides all that, he also gets about $5 million a year from
endorsements with companies like McDonald's, Nike, and Bud Light.
$100 Million Podcast Deal
The Kelce brothers started a
podcast called New Heights in 2022. In August 2024, they signed a three-year,
$100 million deal with Amazon's Wondery to host their show. Wondery now gets to
distribute and sell ads for the podcast.
Early Life and High School
Travis was born in Westlake, Ohio, on October 5, 1989. His parents are Donna and Ed, and his older brother is Jason, who also plays in the NFL. Travis went to Cleveland Heights High School, where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He was a quarterback in football. As a senior, he got All-Lake Erie League honors because he gained 2,539 yards of total offense.
College Career
Travis chose the University
of Cincinnati for college and joined his brother on the football team. He
didn't play much his first year (2008), but in 2009, he ran the ball eight
times for 47 yards and scored two touchdowns. In 2010, he got suspended for
failing a drug test. He came back strong in 2011, setting records for
receptions (45) and receiving yards (722).
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs picked Kelce in
the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. His first season got cut short because
he needed knee surgery. But he came back strong in 2014, scoring his first NFL
touchdown and having his first game with over 100 receiving yards. He ended the
season with 862 total yards, making him the Chiefs' top receiver. In the first
game of 2015, he had his first game with multiple touchdowns in a win against
the Houston Texans. The Chiefs finished the regular season with an 11-5 record
but lost to the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round.
In 2021, Kelce set or broke records, like most 1,000-yard seasons by a tight end (six). In the last game of the regular season, he became the fastest tight end to reach 9,000 career yards. The Chiefs won the Wild Card Round and the Divisional Round before losing to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship. In 2022, Kelce helped his team reach the Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was the first Super Bowl with two brothers on opposing teams, since Jason Kelce played for the Eagles. The Chiefs won 38-35.
Sponsorships
Besides his NFL salary, Travis rakes in about $5 million a year from sponsorships with companies like:
* McDonald's
* Nike
* Papa John's
* Bud Light
* Sleep Number
* Tide
* State Farm
* Dick's Sporting Goods
* T-Mobile
* Experian
* Old Spice
* Pfizer
* Walgreens
* DirecTV
Did Travis Kelce Make $20 Million From Pfizer?
Back in
September 2023, Travis started doing ads for Pfizer to get the word out about
their COVID vaccine. He posted about it on Instagram, urging folks to get their
COVID-19 booster. Commercials then ran during NFL games a few days later. This,
along with his Bud Light campaign, ticked off some conservatives. Pretty soon,
tweets started going around claiming Pfizer paid Travis $20 million. But
there's no proof of that. Looking at similar deals, it's more likely he made
around $1-2 million.
Casa Azul Tequila
In February
2023, Travis invested in Casa Azul Tequila. This tequila company was started by
the same people who created Core water and Fuze tea. And guess what? In October
2023, Taylor Swift was spotted at one of Travis' games with a Casa Azul
Tequila.
TV Appearances
Outside of
football, Kelce has popped up on TV a few times. He was on that E! dating show
Catching Kelce in 2016, where he chose Maya Benberry. But they broke up in
early 2017. Then, after winning Super Bowl LVII in 2023, Kelce even hosted
Saturday Night Live, and his brother Jason showed up!
Personal Life
Travis dated
Kayla Nicole, a social media star, starting in 2017. They split up after five
years. Then, in September 2023, everyone found out that Travis was dating
Taylor Swift. On August 26, 2025, Travis and Taylor told the world they were
engaged. Kelce has a foundation called Eighty-Seven & Running. The
foundation helps young people with mentoring, training, and other
opportunities. He started it back in 2015.
Real Estate
In 2019,
Travis dropped $995,000 on a huge 10,000-square-foot house in Kansas City,
Missouri. And in October 2023, he reportedly bought an even bigger
16,000-square-foot mansion in a gated community in Kansas City for just under
$6 million.
