Jenna Lee Dewan (born December 3, 1980) is an American
actress and dancer. She began her career as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson
before working with artists Christina Aguilera, Pink, and Missy Elliott. Dewan
is best known for her role as Nora Clark in Step Up, which was released in
2006. This was followed on television by Dewan's turn on the ill-fated NBC
series The Playboy Club and a recurring role on FX's American Horror Story:
Asylum. After that were Freya Beauchamp on the Lifetime series Witches of East
End, Lucy Lane in CW's Supergirl and Superman & Lois, and Joanna in Netflix's
Soundtrack. She hosted World of Dance and Flirty Dancing and has served as a
judge on Come Dance with Me, as well as starring as Bailey Nolan on ABC's The
Rookie. She also had a recurring role in the FOX medical drama The Resident.
Early life
Dewan was born December 3, 1980, in Hartford, Connecticut,
the daughter of Nancy Smith and Darryll Dewan, who was a running back on the
1972 Notre Dame football team. Growing up, Dewan moved a lot; she mentioned in
an interview that she lived in seven cities before seventh grade. There, she
was also a varsity cheerleader and was voted prom queen in her senior year.
Private Life
Dewan started dating actor Channing Tatum in 2006 after they
worked on Step Up. The couple married in 2009 and welcomed a daughter in 2013.
In 2018, Dewan and Tatum split up after nearly 10 years of marriage. They
finalized their divorce in late 2019. Meanwhile, while separated, Dewan began a
relationship with actor and singer Steve Kazee, and the couple announced their
engagement in early 2020 and welcomed a son shortly thereafter.
Real Estate
In 2008, Channing and Jenna purchased a hillside house for $2.6 million in LA's Laurel Canyon. The Channing bought a home in Beverly Hills, California, for $6 million in February 2018. They no longer own the Laurel Canyon home; after divorce, Jenna briefly continued living at the Beverly Hills home, which is still owned by Channing today. Channing moved out and rented a home in LA's San Fernando Valley for $25,000 per month. As of this writing, it is not clear whether he has purchased a new primary residence for himself. At some point, Jenna moved out of the BH mansion and into a rental in some suburb of LA.
