Kylie Jenner's net worth
Kylie Jenner, you know, the model, reality star,
and makeup guru? She's worth around $700 million. She makes between $40 and
$100 million each year from all her businesses, with most of that coming from
Kylie Cosmetics. It all kicked off with Kylie Lip Kits back in 2015, and they
were a huge hit, selling out fast. Then, in 2019, she sold a little over half
her company to Coty Inc. for $600 million, which valued the whole company at
$1.2 billion. But, things got a bit less exciting after that deal. After taxes,
Kylie made about $340 million from the sale, but her remaining part of the
brand isn't worth as much now.
Apart from makeup, she got into skincare with
Kylie Skin, launched a clothing line called Khy in 2023, and even started
Sprinter, a canned cocktail brand. She was on Keeping Up with the Kardashians
from 2007 to 2021 and now The Kardashians on Hulu (since 2022), making millions
from TV and those Instagram ads—like, close to $2 million each time. From
swimwear stuff with Frankies Bikinis to those Bratz dolls, she's kept things
fresh and become one of the richest self-made women around.
Growing up famous was normal for Jenner; she was
on Keeping Up with the Kardashians when she was nine. She was there for all
twenty seasons of the E! show and is still on TV with The Kardashians on Hulu.
Kylie's success with Kylie Cosmetics shook up
the beauty world, using social media hype and those limited-edition releases.
She's a big deal in fashion, skincare, branding, and pop culture, and she still
has a huge social media crowd, which she turns into big money. Even with some
talk about the whole self-made thing, she's made a big impact, for sure.
Kylie Jenner's net worth over time
We started watching Kylie's money in 2011,
thinking she worth about $300,000 at 14. By 2013, it was up to $2 million, and
by 2014, it doubled to $4 million. She hit $10 million in 2016. Things got real
around 2017. We guessed she was worth $50 million in June 2017, then $200
million by July 2018. In 2019, we thought she had around $300-400 million,
mostly tied up in Kylie Cosmetics. Here's a quick look at her net worth at the
end of each year, starting in 2013:
• 2013 – $300,000
• 2014 – $2 million
• 2015 – $4 million
• 2016 – $10 million
• 2017 – $50 million
• 2018 – $200 million
• 2019 – $400 million
• 2020 – $500 million
• 2021 – $550 million
• 2022 – $600 million
• 2023 - $650 million
• 2024 – $700 million
Where she started
Kylie Jenner was born in Los Angeles on August
10, 1997. She's Kris Jenner's and Caitlyn Jenner's (used to be Bruce Jenner)
youngest kid. With famous parents and a big family, Kylie was always in the
spotlight. Her sister is Kendall Jenner, and she's got half-siblings like Kim,
Kourtney, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian on her mom's side, plus Brody, Brandon, and
Burt Jenner on her dad's side.
Kylie was only ten when Keeping Up with the
Kardashians first aired in 2007. The show blew up and became America's
longest-running reality show. Unlike her older sisters, who were already
getting famous, Kylie was seen as that energetic kid who was going through
those awkward teen years on TV.
When she was young, Kylie's life was pretty
normal, all things said. She went to Sierra Canyon School, cheered, and did
regular kid stuff. But in 2012, she switched to homeschooling to deal with her
busy life. Kylie later got her high school diploma from Laurel Springs School
in 2015—right before she launched those first lip kits and started building her
beauty brand.
Was Kylie Jenner ever actually a
billionaire?
Back on November 18, 2019, Forbes said Kylie Jenner was a billionaire. They said it happened after she sold most of her makeup company to Coty Inc. Coty Inc. owns brands like CoverGirl and MaxFactor. Forbes figured that her remaining shares were worth around $588 million.
Coty, which also owns things like Clairol,
hasn't been doing well. The company's stock price dropped a lot since 2016. For
the company to be worth that much to begin with, Kylie got Coty Inc. to pay way
more than they should have.
FYI, Facebook is worth around that number.
Regular places are worth the same. Coty isn't.
After taxes, Kylie probably walked away with
around $300 million from the $600 million sale. But, we can't be sure yet
because we don't know if that $600 million was all cash, stocks, or a mix. This
stuff really changes how much she pays in taxes, which changes how much she
gets from the deal. Also, Coty isn't expecting the deal to be totally closed
until the third part of 2020.
Update
On May 29, 2020, Forbes put out something saying that all the numbers they had before were wrong—like, Kylie's accountants just made them up.
Forbes' guesstimates about wealth
We’ve been giving those claims about Kylie's
money the side-eye for a while. Back in 2018, we guessed she was worth
somewhere around $150 and $200 million. Then, Forbes dropped an article in July
saying she was worth $900 million and on her way to be the youngest self-made
billionaire, based on what Kylie Cosmetics was supposedly making. We saw those
numbers and were like, No way, those are probably fake. So, the same day Forbes
put out their article, we said:
That Forbes article from 2018 said Kylie's makeup
company was worth $800 million. It said the company made $307 million in
revenue in 2016 and $330 million in 2017, with $100 million in profit. The
article also said that Kylie Cosmetics' sales weren't really growing. Actually,
total revenue only went up 7% in 2017, and it was $70 million less than what
they thought it would be in 2017. Also, her lip-kit sales were down 35% from
the year before.
We thought back then that a reasonable number would've been 4 times profits, which would've put the company at $400 million. Since she owned it all, she would've gotten around $260 million after taxes if she sold it. So, we thought a realistic guess for Kylie's net worth in July 2018 was $300-400 million.
Then there were Kylie's financials. For a
12-month period before the deal, revenues were $177 million, said Coty, which
is way lower than what was reported back then. Even worse, Coty said that sales
were up 40% from 2018, meaning the business only made around $125 million that
year. That's nowhere near the $360 million the Jenners told Forbes. Kylie's
skincare line, which launched in May 2019, made $100 million in revenues in its
first month and a half, Kylie's people told us. But the documents showed the
line was 'on track' to end the year with only $25 million in sales.
Forbes added
Info from Rakuten, which watches receipts, shows
that Kylie's online sales dropped 62% between 2016 and 2018. And: The business
was never that big, and the Jenners have lied about it since 2016—even having
their accountant make up tax returns with fake numbers—to push up Forbes'
guesses about Kylie's earnings and net worth. We can't prove those documents
were fake (but it's likely), but it's clear that Kylie's team has been lying.
The Coty sale
Even with all this, Kylie still made a TON of
money from selling to Coty. Forbes also said in their correction that Kylie
didn't own the whole 100% when she sold. Sounds like Kris Jenner owned at least
10%. Kylie sold half of her 90% stake at a $1.2 billion value. If the deal was
all in cash, Kylie would've gotten around $340 million after taxes and still
own 45% of the brand on paper.
Too bad for Kylie and Coty, the sale hasn't
exactly helped the parent company's stock price. For six months after the deal,
Coty's stock went down 60%, partly because they overpaid for Kylie Cosmetics
and will probably have to lower what the brand is worth. That'll probably make
Kylie's remaining 45% worth less on paper. Here's a chart of Coty stock from
May 2019 to May 2020:
See that dot on the chart at November 18, 2019?
That's when the Kylie sale was announced. Coty's stock was at $12.22. Over the
next few months, the stock lost 70% of its value.
The company's total value now, according to
investors, is $2.8 billion. That's the combined value of all their brands,
including Kylie Cosmetics, which was probably never worth anywhere near $1.2
billion. Coty will probably have to write off a big part of the Kylie brand
soon, which would make Jenner's remaining 45% worthless.
Early Career and product deals:
Kylie Jenner's career began well before her
beauty brand. She became known by modeling, starting with the Sears clothing
line Crush Your Style. Then she was in magazines like OK!, Teen Vogue, and
People, where she and Kendall were in the magazine's Beautiful People thing in
2010. She first walked a runway in September 2011 at New York Fashion Week,
modeling for Avril Lavigne's Abbey Dawn collection. Wearing a black ballerina
dress, Kylie walked confidently while her family cheered.
Her modeling work took off with campaigns with
White Sands Australia, and soon she was co-hosting big Hollywood red carpets.
With Kendall, Kylie hosted events for the Glee 3D movie and a Twilight flick
and even did interviews at The Hunger Games premiere in 2012. That year, she
and Kendall each made $100,000 for backing Nicole by OPI nail polish.
In 2013, the sisters wrote a young adult sci-fi
book called Rebels: City of Indra, about two girls with powers in a crazy
future world. The next year, they co-hosted the Much Music Video Awards, and
Kylie was even in a promo video for the show. Since she had a big effect on
fashion, she teamed up with Steve Madden on a purse line. Then, in 2015, she
was a brand face for Nip + Fab skincare. That same year, she and Kendall
dropped a clothing line with Topshop, a British store. In 2016, PUMA picked
Kylie to be their face, and in 2017, she and Quay Australia launched a line of
sunglasses.
Kylie Cosmetics:
Kylie Jenner went from reality star to business
person when she launched Kylie Cosmetics in 2015. It started small—three $29
lip kits with matte liquid lipstick and matching liner—but it turned into
something huge. The first launch in November 2015 sold out fast, in less than a
minute! That then became normal for the brand's marketing.
Jenner used her huge social media reach, using
Instagram and Snapchat to tell people about product launches and restocks,
which made people want them even more. In September 2015, before the launch,
she released her app and website with beauty tips, fashion stuff, and
behind-the-scenes looks at her life and the brand.
Because the lip kits did so well, Kylie Cosmetics quickly grew into a real beauty brand, selling all kinds of things like eyeshadow, blush, and skincare. Word is, the company made over $300 million in its first year and a half. In 2020, Kylie sold most of the company (51%) to Coty Inc. for $600 million, which meant the whole business was worth $1.2 billion. She still has a say in what's going on and is still the face of the brand, which means she's a big name in the beauty world.
Kylie Jenner's Real Estate
Over the years, Kylie Jenner has bought and sold
homes around Southern California. Now, she owns at least FIVE mansions there.
Calabasas: When she was only 17, Kylie bought
her first house. The $2.7 million mansion is in The Oaks, a fancy area in
Calabasas, California. She sold it in 2017 for $3.15 million.
Hidden Hills: Kylie’s main home now is a huge
Cape Cod-style mansion in Hidden Hills, California. She bought it in 2016 for
$12 million. The house has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms!
In May 2020, Kylie spent $15 million on an empty
lot in Hidden Hills, California. She got someone to design an
18,000-square-foot mansion.
Back in May 2016, Kylie spent $6 million on her
first mansion in Hidden Hills. It's on almost 4.5 acres and has six bedrooms
and seven bathrooms. She later bought the empty lot next door. In September
2018, she sold the mansion for $6.7 million and the lot for $5.35 million.
Beverly Hills: In October 2018, Kylie and Travis
Scott jointly bought a house in Beverly Hills, California, for $13.45 million.
They put it up for sale in October 2022 for around $22 million.
La Quinta: In February 2019, Kylie paid $3.25 million
for land in La Quinta, California, in the Madison Club, where most of her
family owns homes.
Holmby Hills: In April 2020, Kylie spent $36.5
million on a huge mansion in Holmby Hills, California.
Kylie's Boob Job:
Someone in 2025, Kylie answered a TikTok video
from Rachel Leary—who was asking about Jenner's plastic surgery—Kylie said:
445 cc, normal shape, half under the muscle!!!!!
Silicone!!! Garth Fisher!!! Hope this helps lol.
Monthly Expenses:
Someone close to Kris Jenner said that Kylie spends
$300,000 each month on clothes for herself and her daughter. She also spends
between $300k and $400k on car payments and security each month.
The homes we just talked about cost her about
$80 million in total. In California, property taxes are about 1% of the price.
So, Kylie owes around $800,000 in property taxes each year, or about $67k each
month.
Private Jet + Climate Criminal:
Kylie reportedly spent $72 million on a Global
Express private jet. She loves using it, even for short trips. In July 2022,
Kylie got the name Climate Criminal because she used her private jet to fly
from Van Nuys to Camarillo, California, a trip that's half an hour by car but
only 12 minutes by plane. At the same time, people called her classless when
she posted a photo of her and Travis Scott standing in front of two private
jets, with the caption, You wanna take mine or yours. People gave her a hard time
since Kylie tries to act like she cares about the environment.
Kylie Jenner's love life:
Kylie Jenner's love life is always news. She got
together with Travis Scott, a rapper, in 2017 after she and Tyga, another
rapper, broke up. They were together from 2014 to early 2017. Kylie and Travis
were seen at Coachella in April 2017, and things went quickly. Really fast. Ten
months later, in February 2018, Stormi was born. Unlike her sisters, Kylie kept
the whole pregnancy secret. She wanted to enjoy being pregnant without cameras
and drama, and people respected that. When she told everyone about Stormi in a
video on social media, it was huge.
Even though they didn't marry, Kylie and Travis
raised Stormi together and seemed happy, even when people thought they were
breaking up and getting back together. They broke up quietly around mid-2019
but still supported each other for Stormi.
Then, in 2022, Aire was born.
In 2023, she started dating Timothée Chalamet, the actor. People talked about it in April, then in
September, they were seen at a Beyoncé show. They tried to keep things private,
but by 2025, they were more open. They walked the red carpet in Rome at an
awards show where Timothée was being honored. In July 2025, Kylie followed
Timothée on Instagram. She only follows just over a hundred people, and he
still doesn't follow anyone!
