Her mother, whose name was Helga Mathilde (née Meyer), was an opera instructor
from Germany, and her dad was John Wilson Bullock. He used to work for the
military and army back in Birmingham. Her father commanded The Army's Military
Postal Service in Europe and was posted in Nuremberg when he met her mother in
Germany. They got married Bullock's moms dad was a German-based rocket
scientist hailing from Nuremberg where they moved back into to Arlington, where
her father was into pictures within the Army Materiel Command, then, after
that, as a contractor with the Pentagon. Bullock has German roots on both sides
of her family tree. One of her parents worked for the German army before moving
to America. Bullock is also sister to younger Gesine Bullock-Prado, the

Bullock lived in Nuremberg, Germany, Vienna, and Salzburg,
Austria, for 12 years, learning to speak German. Additionally, she received a
Waldorf education in Nuremberg. Bullock spent many years with her aunt Christl
and Susanne, her cousin, while her mother went on European opera tours. Susanne

formed when she fell into a creek. Despite her American citizenship, she
applied for German citizenship (2009) because of her mother.
Bullock was involved in many organizations while attending
Washington-Lee High School, including cheerleading and drama productions. She
performed in East Carolina University productions, such as Peter Pan and Three
Sisters, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1987. From there, she

At times, she was seen tending bar, waitressing, and check-wrapping in her
effort to audition for stage and student films.
Career
Sandra Bullock got an acting role in New York City after
college. She then did a menial job, took acting lessons, and went out on
auditions, trying her luck in student films and stage productions. By night,
she would work as a cocktail waitress, coat-check girl, or bartender, where
Meisner was also giving acting classes.
With the move to Los Angeles, Sandra got a number of small
job gigs having come recommended by an impressed Alan J. Levi, who had happened
upon her in an Off-Broadway play. Was cast as a character in the 1989
made-for-TV film "Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the
Bionic Woman."
The following year saw Bullock starring opposite Keanu
Reeves in the blockbusting movie "Speed"; it raked in gross earnings
of $350.4 million worldwide. Overnight, Bullock's career had been catapulted
into the stratosphere with this performance.
After "Speed," Sandra was now a Hollywood leading
actress. Several other roles in highly successful and different genre films
followed, including "While You Were Sleeping," which earned $182
million worldwide and provided her with a Golden Globe Nomination, "A Time
to Kill," which earned $152.2 million worldwide, "Miss
Congeniality," which earned $212.7 million worldwide, and "Two Weeks
Notice," which made $199 million worldwide. In 1995, she played a computer
programmer who stumbles upon a conspiracy in "The Net." Bullock

million. Later that year, she starred in "Practical Magic" alongside
Nicole Kidman, a film that failed at the box office but may not necessarily be
called a cult classic today.
In 2005, Sandra received critical acclaim and an Oscar for
her supporting role in the movie "Crash," which won three Academy
Awards. Her 2009 film, "The Blind Side," garnered roughly $309
million in worldwide box office proceeds and gave Bullock her first Academy
recognition. She was also awarded a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards
for Best Actress in that year. "The Proposal," starring her and Ryan

most-watched movie on Netflix within 28 days of its release until 2021. Again
in 2021, she starred in "The Unforgivable," another Netflix original.

different decades. She also starred opposite Brad Pitt in "Bullet

role in Gravity. Fresh from the win of her Best Actress Oscar, Sandra managed
to negotiate a contract which guaranteed her $20 million plus 15% of Gravity's
gross box office receipts on merchandise, television, and DVD sales. To date,
Sandra grossed over $70 million, which should account for one of the largest
paychecks given for a single role in Hollywood history.
Other Highlights of Salaries

She earned $8 million for A Time to Kill in 1996, finally able to capitalize on her popularity. She earned $10.5 million for reappearing in Speed 2: Cruise Control.
