Early
life
Willard Carroll Smith II is an eternal September child, born on
September 25, 1968, in Philadelphia. Willard Sr. is an Air Force veteran and
refrigeration engineer. Caroline could be mistaken for a school
board administrator in Caroline Smith's case. Thus, it is safe to say Caroline
graduated from Carnegie Mellon University.
He was brought up a Baptist in the Wynnefield section of West
Philadelphia. He has one sister, Pamela, and two younger siblings, twin Harry,
and Ellen. He first studied at Our Lady of Lourdes and then graduated from
Overbrook High School. Smith's parents separated around the year 2000 when he
was 13.
Smith began rapping when he was still in the woody age of
twelve. However, when Smith's grandmother went through his notebook of lyrics,
she commented that there were "all [his] little curse words" and wrote
a note on a page saying: "Dear Willard, truly intelligent people do not
have to use words like this to express themselves.
Willard Carroll Smith II is among the most celebrated of
American actors, rappers, and film producers. This work carries credits for an
Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and BAFTA, in addition to four Grammy Awards.
Smith is also available across screen and music industries in Ohio and, most
importantly, one of the richest stars of Hollywood, making up with gross
receipts exceeding $10 billion worldwide from his films.
Smith first became popular as part of the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy
Jeff & The Fresh Prince, which recorded five studio albums between 1985 and
1994. Hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 represented five of these:
"Parents Just Don't Understand," "A Nightmare on My
Street," "Summertime," "Ring My Bell," and "Boom!
Shake The Room." On top of these, he would release solo albums beginning
with Big Willie Style (1997), followed by Willennium (1999), Born To Reign
(2002), and Lost And Found (2005), effectively making him a household name with
the US number-one singles "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" and "Wild Wild
West." He has won four Grammy Awards for his recording career.
He began his acting career starring as a fictionalized version
of himself on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990-1996), for which
he was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1993 and 1994. He attained international
fame as a leading man with the film franchises Bad Boys (1995-2024) and Men in
Black (1997-2012), in which he played Mike Lowrey and Agent J, respectively. He
gained more fame starring in the thrillers Independence Day (1996) and Enemy of
the State (1998) and gained Academy Award nominations for Best Actor for his
roles as Muhammad Ali in Ali (2001) and Chris Gardner in The Pursuit of
Happyness (2006). He also starred in commercially successful films including I,
Robot (2004), Shark Tale (2004), Hitch (2005), I Am Legend (2007), Hancock
(2008), Seven Pounds (2008), Suicide Squad (2016), and Aladdin (2019).
Smith won Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of
Richard Williams in the biographical sports drama King Richard (2021). At the
2022 ceremony, just before winning, he slapped and shouted at presenter Chris
Rock for making an unscripted joke that referenced Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett
Smith. It was widely televised and reported, and became the subject of criticism,
with Smith resigning from the Academy and being banned from attending any of
its activities for the next ten years.
Biggest paychecks
In the 20 years between 1993 and 2013, Will made $200 million in
movie salary and bonuses. At the time of writing, his earnings from movies
range well past $300 million, and there could be speculation as to whether he
made more if some of his rumored backend deals are to be believed. The biggest
payday Will can confirm came in 2013 when he made $20 million upfront and $80
million from backend points off "Men In Black 3," which was based on
his 10 percent gross. He is said to have had a 20 percent gross on "Bad
Boys 2," "Hancock," and "Pursuit of Happyness."
However, it could be possible that his 20% share refers to net profits, which
are two completely different figures from gross. If he in fact has gross
pointing, he would have made $355 million from these four movies alone.
These steady inflows of cash from Will's film salary multiplied
the six to seven times his upfront salary jumped for the making of "King
Richard," his another $20 million. The movie was subsequently put through
on the HBO Max streaming service by Warner Brothers, having suffered a rather limp
cinematic outing due to COVID. Simply to make for all those backend points of
the film Smith would've earned millions on, Warner paid Smith an enormous $40
million. In total to $60 million was what he earned for the film.
Smith earned $35 million from
Emancipation..

of accolades.
Real
Estate
Will and Jada have about ten homes in the United States. Here's
a brief rundown on some of their most outstanding present and past properties:
In 1999, Will and Jada paid $7.5 million for a gorgeous 100-acre
estate in the hills between Malibu and Calabasas, California. Within a year,
they purchased several neighboring parcels to create 150 acres of continuous
land. Features include a 20,000-square-foot main residence, several guest
houses, a private lake, a horse riding arena and equestrian trails, stables,
and tennis courts, and much more. There is a meditation suite, retractable
skylights in the main living area, and the recording studio where Willow Smith
recorded her first big hit, "Whip My Hair." Outside Jada and Will Smith's residence is a
man-made lake, a lagoon-style pool, volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts,
and several buildings to chill in when you are not running around playing. The
property is fully Santa Fe style after being inspired by actor Gene Hackman's
Santa Fe home. They actually hired Hackman's Santa Fe architect for this
project, which was put on hold for years over environmental and permit
concerns. For a quiet and unsuccessful $42 million in 2013, this property was
listed. Today, this property could go for $50 to $70 million.
In 2017, Will and Jada sold their 7-acre Kauai oceanfront estate
for $12 million. In 2015, they paid $10 million for the multi-home property.
They had sold another 7-acre beachfront Hawaiian estate to Ekaterina
Rybolovlev-the daughter of billionaire Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev-for $20
million in 2011.
They also have a 9,000-square-foot mansion in a gated community
in Hidden Hills, California, and a 9,200-square-foot ski chalet in Park City,
Utah.
In September 2021, Will and Jada purchased a 10,400-square-foot
house in Hidden Hills, California, for a little over $11 million. The Smiths own
at least $100 million worth of real estate across the globe that we know about.
