Becky G American Singer and Actress

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Becky G is born on March 2, 1997, in Inglewood, California as Rebbeca Marie Gomez. Her Mexican-American ethnicity comes from the roots of her parents, Alejandra and Francisco, and she has two brothers and a younger sister. When Gomez was around nine, they lost their home from financial difficulties. Becky helped out by working part-time jobs doing commercials and voice-over work. Initially, the public schools were around, but because of the bullying issues, those went away, and she ended homeschooling.

Gomez starred in "El Tux"- a short film- in 2008 and landed a spot in the Discovery Channel TV movie "La estación de la Calle Olvera". And in 2009, realizing her goal of becoming a singer, she joined G.L.A.M., an all-girl group, to film their debut music video. For that time, Becky recorded herself singing and rapping and uploading those performances with her friends at YouTube. During this time, she also started writing songs and learning to play the guitar. Soon thereafter, Gomez collaborated with producing duo The Jam, and they recorded covers such as "Novacane," "Boyfriend," and "Otis."

In other words, she began her rise in the music scene in 2011, when she began posting covers of popular songs on her YouTube channel. One of his uploads drew attention from record producer Dr. Luke, who then offered him a contract under his Kemosabe Records label. This was soon followed by her association with singers will.i.am, Cody Simpson, and Cher Lloyd.

Though her first commercial single, "Becky from the Block," was well-received in 2013, it did not chart. Its follow-up, "Can't Get Enough" or featuring Pitbull, had a moderate entry on the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and became the lead single off her debut EP, Play It Again (2013). By April that same year, Gomez gained mainstream success with "Shower," which peaked at the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved double platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). She co-headlined a tour with J Balvin throughout September and October 2015, spanning the length of the United States. She had a character named Valentina Galindo in two episodes of the musical television series Empire, contributing two songs to the soundtrack of that TV show. Her first single and Spanish song in 2016, "Sola," drove her to continue releasing songs in Spanish until her 2018 promotional single, "Zooted" (featuring French Montana and Farruko). Thereafter, she continued to release singles in both languages.

Further Collaborations and Debut Album

Back in the fold with English music into the year 2019, Gomez was back in the business with the songs "LBD" and "Green Light Go." On the other hand, her collaboration with Maluma on "La Respuesta," Myke Towers' song titled "Dollar," and Zayn Malik's bilingual version of "A Whole New World" to be featured on the soundtrack to Disney's "Aladdin" remake took place. Toward the end of the first year 2019, Becky was identified on Akon's single, "Cómo No," and the multilingual song "Chicken Noodle Soup" of J-Hope.

In October 2019, Gomez's debut album, titled Mala Santa, arrived. The album notably debuted within the top five of the Billboard Latin Albums chart and featured guest artists such as Darell, Farruko, and Mau y Ricky. Apart from that, Becky has been collaborating with other artists, including Carlos Rivera, Gente de Zona, and Ozuna, since then.

Acting Career

In 2017, Gomez made her feature film acting debut as the Yellow Ranger Trini Kwan in the live-action riff of Power Rangers. This character was unique in that it was the first-ever LGBT superhero to ever be seen in a major film. After that, Becky starred in the science-fiction adventure A.X.L. and starred alongside Josh Peck in the animated fantasy film Gnome Alone.

On television, Gomez played herself and guest-starred in 'Teens Wanna Know' and 'Tu Día Alegre' and was also seen in Austin & Ally. She played Valentine Galindo in two episodes of the Fox musical drama Empire in 2015.

Personal Life

In 2016, Becky began dating professional soccer player Sebastian Lletget. After being attacked by a fan in Mexico City in 2017, Gomez shared on Snapchat about the incident and that she was dealing with anxiety.
