Early Life And Education
Born on July 2, 1990 in Dalby, Queensland, Margot Elise
Robbie is the second of four children of Doug Robbie, an erstwhile owner of
farm and sugarcane tycoon, and Sarie Kessler, a physiotherapist. Robbie has two
older siblings Anya and Lachlan and a younger brother Cameron. Her parents
separated when she was five years old. She and her siblings were raised mostly
by their single mother with little contact with their father. Most of Robbie's
upbringing was spent on her grandparents' Currumbin Valley farm in the Gold
Coast hinterland. Robbie used to put up shows at home when she was a child.
Her mother enrolled her in a circus school. There, she
excelled in trapeze, so much so that she received a certificate when she was
eight years old. Robbie's high school education took place at Somerset College
while studying drama. In her teen years, she was juggling three jobs:
waitressing at a bar, cleaning houses, and working at Subway. After high
school, she moved again with only a few commercials and independent thriller
films to her name with a plan to begin professional acting at Melbourne.
Career
Margot Elise Robbie (born 2 July 1990) is an Australian
actress and producer. Most widely recognized for her roles in both blockbuster
and independent films, Robbie is nominated for three Academy Awards, four
Golden Globe Awards and six BAFTA Awards: Time placed Robbie in its 2017 list
of the 100 most influential people in the world while Forbes ranked the actress
as the highest-paid in the world for 2023.
Born and raised in Queensland, Robbie was seen on Australian
screens in the 2008 television series Neighbours, a role she retained until
2011. Upon moving to the United States, she starred in the television series
Pan Am (2011-2012) and had her big break in 2013 with Martin Scorsese's black
comedy film The Wolf of Wall Street. Her wings of fame were further spread with
prominent roles in the movies Jane Porter in The Legend of Tarzan (2016), and
Harley Quinn in another production from a DC Extended Universe story beginning
with Suicide Squad (2016).
Robbie achieved acclaim in the international cinema scene
and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress because of her interpretation
of an American figure skater Tonya Harding in the biopic I, Tonya (2017).
Robbie's award prospects were further validated in performances as Queen
Elizabeth I in Mary Queen of Scots (2018), Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in
Hollywood (2019), and a Fox News employee in Bombshell (2019), the last of
which earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Recently, she starred as an aspiring actress in the period film Babylon (2022)
and in the titular fashion doll in the fantasy comedy Barbie (2023), which
emerged as her highest-grossing release and, as its producer, earned her a
nomination for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
In 2014, Robbie and her husband, filmmaker Tom Ackerley,
co-founded their own production company, Lucky Chap Entertainment, and under
the company's umbrella, produced a number of feature films, including I, Tonya,
Promising Young Woman (2020), Barbie, and Saltburn (2023), as well as the Hulu
series Dollface (2019-2022) and the Netflix miniseries Maid (2021).
Bankroll
In 2016, she was signed to become the face of Calvin Klein's
Deep Euphoria fragrance. A year later, she started appearing in advertisements
for Nissan, promoting the automaker's electric vehicle range (EV). In
continuation, in 2018, Robbie signed a contract becoming the brand ambassador
of the well-known luxury fashion brand Chanel. Robbie has partnered with Chanel
many times and she finally became the face of their fragrance, "Chanel
Gabrielle Essence." Most publications have praised Robbie's sense of style
thereby ranking her as one of the modern well-dressed celebrities in the
industry.
Real Estate
Since becoming a top figure in Hollywood, Margot has been
very active in the real estate market. In 2017, she quietly purchased a
property in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The low-key purchase
has been discovered months after Robbie had already moved in, and she
supposedly paid $2.73 million for the impressive property. The residence,
covering 3,300 square feet, features a wine cellar, a pool, a private balcony,
and a room dedicated entirely to Margot's newly adopted puppy.
In 2018 Margot paid $950,000 for a reasonably priced home in
LA. She has since listed the home for sale in December 2020 for an asking price
of $1.2 million.
Robbie continued to buy new properties in 2019 for members
of her family. Of the two houses she bought for her family, the first was for
her sister and the second house for Robbie's mother. Both houses share the same
building, and Robbie paid around $1.8 million for the gated duplex that sits
along Australia's beautiful Gold Coast. In 2014, she paid off her mother's
mortgage as a 60th birthday present.
That wasn't all for Robbie, though, as she went crazy during
the same year with another house under her name. This time, the lucky actress
shopped in the Venice area of Los Angeles and bought a compound worth $5
million from another quiet deal. It is "fortress-like" and contains
three separate structures. It has a green, grassy lawn and a swimming pool with
lots of privacy. In addition, Robbie owns a 1,000-square-foot investment home
in Hollywood Hills that she leases out for considerable passive income.
