Early life
Dreymon was born Alexander Doetsch in Germany and grew up in
the USA, France,
and Switzerland. During his adolescence, Dreymon would build many dreams of
becoming an actor. He has practiced martial arts and learned some horseback
riding when he was living in South Dakota. Then he went to study in Paris
before training for three at the Drama Centre London.
Personal life
In late 2019, Dreymon commenced his romantic affair with
actress Allison Williams, met while shooting Horizon Line. They became parents
to a son in late 2021. As of December 2022, they were reported to be
engaged.[8] Then, in June 2025, their marriage was announced.
While working on The Last Kingdom, Dreymon began learning
Brazilian jiu-jitsu and in 2024 was promoted to brown belt.
House and residence
Dreymon considers Los Angeles his home, as he has lived
there for the past few years and feels it's where he sees himself settling
down. The actor has lived in several places, including London, Taiwan,
Singapore, and Budapest, where The Last Kingdom was filmed. He has said in the
past that he considers "home" to be a feeling rather than a physical
location.
Career
Alexander Dreymon (born Alexander Doetsch, 7 February 1983)
is a German actor best known for Uhtred of Bebbanburg in the television series
The Last Kingdom (2015-2022). Dreymon further gained recognition with roles in
Christopher and His Kind (2011) and American Horror Story: Coven (2013-2014).
Dreymon has also graced the interpretation of Resistance: a World War II film
of once in 2011.
After three years' training at the Drama Centre London,
Dreymon appeared on stage in London and Paris before making his screen debut in
the French one-off-drama Ni reprise, ni échangée, and soon after starred
alongside Doctor Who's Matt Smith in British feature Christopher and His Kind.
Dreymon worked on several independent films in the US as
well as portraying Luke Ramsey in five episodes of American Horror Story's
third season, Coven.
Dreymon plays Uhtred of Bebbanburg in the television series The Last Kingdom for Netflix and directed the second episode of the fifth season as well.
Upcoming projects of Alexander Dreymon
Alexander has also recently been cast as Rudolf Schenker in
the Scorpions biopic titled Wind of Change. Wind Of Change chronicles the
illustrious journey of the legendary rock group the SCORPIONS in a music biopic
directed by Alex Ranarivelo and produced by ESX Entertainment for FOX
Entertainment Studios in association with Warner Bros.
