Mohammad Babar Azam (Urdu, Punjabi: 15 October 1994) is a Pakistani international cricketer and a former Pakistan national team captain in all three formats of the game. A right-handed top-order batsman, he leads Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League.He is the sole captain who led Pakistan to the number 1 ODI team rankings. Azam was part of the Pakistan side that won the 2017 ICC ChampionsTrophy.
In November 2023, Azam stepped down from captaincy in all
formats following the 2023 Cricket World Cup. In March 2024, however, he was
again appointed as Pakistan's white-ball captain. On 1 October 2024, Azam
stepped down from white-ball captaincy a second time due to his workload and
wish to concentrate on his batting.
Babar Azam is a Pakistani cricketer and has established
himself as among the world's greatest batsmen. He holds the record for most
runs scored in a single World Cup edition, and the record for being the
quickest batsman to score 350+ runs in a three-match ODI series. He has also
been awarded the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2017 and 2019. Babar Azam
